When Sergio Leone was filming his “Spaghetti” Westerns starring Clint Eastwood, he needed a lot of firearms for his many characters. He wanted replicas of Colt SAA pistols and Winchester rifles and he contacted Uberti to manufacture them for his films. What you have here is the ultimate “what if” gun that has been reproduced for your western style shooting pleasure. The Uberti 1873 Thunderer uses the Colt SAA frame but marries it to the Double Action Thunderer “Bird Head” grip that was so popular with that model. Now you can shoot the larger “Cowboy” rounds that are more available than the .41 colt round that the original Thunderer came in. This gun is in 45 Colt with a 4 3/4″ barrel that balances nicely with the “Bird Head” grip. The finish is “Old West” original with a Blued barrel, cylinder and grip/trigger housing and the frame is color case hardened. This gun functions the same as a Colt SAA with a half cock to load and unload and 4 “clicks” to fully cock the hammer. A transport safety is hidden on the cylinder base pin and manually set with the base pin screw when you are done shooting. Otherwise, carry the gun “old west style” with the hammer down on an empty chamber because the firing pin is attached to the hammer. Start your Cowboy “Dreams” today with the Uberti/Cimarron 1873 Thunderer.
